““Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.””
Isaiah 12:2 is one of the most popular verses in the Bible. It comes during a time shortly after the judgement of Israel, and provides praise to the Lord for His salvation. This verse represents a transition from the Lord’s anger to mercy and gives hope to the people of future deliverance.
When we say God is our salvation, we recognize that He is our rescue from our sins and challenges. When we are able to trust in Him, we no longer have to be afraid of any potential obstacles.
Our strength is the Lord; the Lord is our strength. We cannot have one without the other.
A piece of imagery I found when researching this verse is that we draw our resiliency from Him in the same way that a tree draws nourishment from deep roots. Without roots, a tree will wither. Without our relationship with Him, we will falter as well.
God does not simply give us strength; He is the source of our strength. Without Him, true strength does not exist. Any strength we build apart from Him will eventually fail us.
Once we understand where our strength comes from, we can move through our fitness journey fearlessly. A tree does not worry about the storm when its roots run deep. In the same way, when our strength comes from God, we can endure whatever challenges lie ahead.
The deeper our roots in God, the stronger we become.
