Can People Trust Your Word? | Joshua 21:45
Devotional
“Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.”
The book of Joshua is a beautiful lesson in God’s commitment to His people. In many of our devotionals, we stress the importance of faithfulness. The book of Joshua reminds us that God is faithful to keep every promise He makes.
God has the ability to do whatever He chooses, but He will always do what He says He will do. So when Jesus says that no one gets to the Father except through Him, we better believe that this is the truth!
As Christians, we should strive to reflect God’s character in our own lives. If God always keeps His promises, we should be people who keep our commitments.
When we make a commitment to a spouse or a coworker, or anyone else, it is our responsibility to ensure that we follow through. It is equally important that we keep commitments to ourselves.
As Christians, we should live with a servants heart, and put ourselves last. This serving nature can cause us to be tired when we finally get around to working on ourselves. But keeping the commitments to ourselves is just as important as our commitments to others.
When we commit to working out Thursday morning, for example, it is important that we do it. Not simply because working out is good for us, but because keeping commitments matters. Every time we follow through on a promise we made to ourselves, we strengthen our integrity.
If God can keep His promises to us, then we must also be committed to keeping promises and commitments as well.
If our word means nothing to us, why should it mean anything to anyone else?
Workout
Just like our last workout, we are moving a strength exercise into our conditioning block. We will need to keep the same mindset we had then in order to make it happen.
As the conditioning becomes more challenging, this is the point in the program where some people may be tempted to quit. But we made a commitment to finish what we started, and we owe it to ourselves to keep it.
