Why Did God Make Me This Way? | Romans 9:20

Devotional

“But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, ‘Why have you made me like this?’”

In Romans 9:20, Paul compares us to clay and God to a potter. Christ is the creator of all things, and He made each of us with care for a purpose. No two people are the same, but He loves each one of us as a Father would his children.

God does not make mistakes, so when we question His choices, we question His wisdom and sovereignty.

Most of us would never intentionally question God, but we often do it without realizing it. People often times blame their genetics when they can’t attain the body they desire, but this is being upset with the genetics God has given.

We are all made with a purpose and genetics do play a major role in our level of fitness and body structure. It’s when we get upset because we think we should look a different way that we are questioning our creator.

I’ve always wanted big biceps and I’ve worked years to get them as big as they are, but they simply do not grow like my legs. For years, I was upset that nothing I did worked. Eventually I decided that I wouldn’t get upset over the way I was created and I trusted the Lord and how he designed me.

Does this mean I gave up on working hard for what I wanted? Absolutely not.

Our goal should be to always do the best with what God has given us. We are not to choose what we think is best and we should never question His wisdom when His design looks different than ours.

Our responsibility is not to wish for different gifts, abilities, or circumstances. Our responsibility is to be faithful with what God has already given us.

Workout

Now that we’ve got a few weeks under our belt, it’s time to increase the challenge. For the first two weeks, we focused on 3 strength exercises followed by a 3-exercise circuit. This week, we’re moving one of those strength exercises into the circuit, giving us 2 strength exercises and a 4-exercise circuit.

This change will keep your heart rate elevated for longer and make the workout a little more demanding. Do your best, trust the process, and let’s get to work.
