Devotional
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”
In 2 Corinthians 5:1-10, Paul refers to our physical bodies as an earthly tent. Like all things on earth, these tents or dwellings are temporary. When our earthly dwelling is destroyed, we will have an eternal home in heaven.
Paul acknowledges that life in our earthly bodies comes with struggle. But instead of longing to escape it, we should look forward to the life God has prepared for us.
While we are still on earth, we must remain courageous, knowing we are not yet fully in the Lord’s presence. In all that we do, we must walk by faith rather than sight.
All of us would much rather be home with the Lord, and our time will come. But until then, “whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him” (2 Corinthians 5:9).
As today’s title verse says, we will all appear before the judgement seat of Christ. We must answer for the good and bad that we have done, and receive what is fair for these decisions.
Knowing this is one of life’s guarantees, we must remain faithful and courageous in taking care of our earthly bodies. God is preparing a heavenly home for us and we want to show Him that we will appreciate and worship him for what he gives us.
Why would we wait until the Lord provides us a heavenly home to show him that we appreciate the gifts He has given us?
If we know we will one day stand before Christ, then how we live in these bodies now matters.
We don’t wait for eternity to honor God—we start with the bodies He’s already given us.
Workout
Below is the workout for the day.
Three things to consider when completing this workout:
Just like our squats in the last workout, this day will have less exercises. 6 sets of 2 on the compound lift is designed to drain your energy, so make them count!
Do close grip bench at roughly 60-70% of your bench top set weight. Do the first set to failure, take a 30 second pause and do another set to failure. As a reference point, I did a set of 16 and a set of 8, a big drop in reps.
Today is our first day utilizing a drop set. This is similar to our max rep sets, but we are dropping all additional weight. Do the first set with however much weight you can add for roughly 10 reps, then immediately burn out at body weight.
Barbell Bench Press
6 sets of 2 reps
Barbell Close-Grip Bench Press
2 sets of max reps
Cable Overhead Tricep Extension
4 sets of 10 reps
Dips
1 set of max reps -> 1 drop set of max reps
